Coming Together in Fundraising: Compass IT Compliance Supports Red Cross Hurricane Relief
October 11, 2024
Compass IT Compliance recently held an internal fundraiser to support the American Red Cross in its efforts to respond to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Employees generously contributed to the cause, and in a show of solidarity, Compass matched all employee donations dollar-for-dollar. The storms left widespread destruction in their wake, displacing thousands of families and causing significant damage to infrastructure across affected regions.
Compass IT Compliance Sponsors 7th Annual Morgan Sibling Trust Golf Tournament in Support of Huntington’s Disease Research

Compass IT Compliance proudly sponsored the 7th Annual Morgan Sibling Trust Golf Tournament. Funds raised from the event will go toward supporting the Morgan Family’s ongoing efforts in the fight against Huntington’s disease (HD). HD is a devastating neurodegenerative disorder, marked by involuntary movements and cognitive decline. It affects approximately 1 in every 10,000 to 20,000 people in the United States, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or race.
5th Annual Compass Golf Outing Raises Money for WARRIORS SOAR

The 5th Annual Compass Golf Outing gathered Compass' clients, staff, and partners for an enjoyable day of golf and networking. During the event, participants joined a 50/50 raffle, with all proceeds benefiting WARRIORS SOAR. This non-profit 501(c)3 organization is committed to supporting disabled veterans through various indoor and outdoor activities. SOAR, which stands for Support, Outreach, Assistance, and Recovery, recognizes the difficulties veterans face when transitioning from military to civilian life, especially those dealing with mental and physical injuries.

The Sargent Rehabilitation Center, dedicated to neuro-rehabilitation, audiology, educational programs for disabled students, and the Regional Resource Center (RRC), celebrated a major milestone in 2017, commemorating 100 years of delivering comprehensive outpatient medical, educational, and rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, including children, adults, and their families.
Compass Cyber Guard Delivers Free Security Awareness Training at Local Senior Centers

Compass Cyber Guard's AVP of Cybersecurity, Peter Fellini, recently visited several local senior centers to deliver complimentary training sessions for seniors on scams to look out for that are targeting their vulnerable population. This hands-on training armed these seniors with the knowledge to recognize and respond to various social engineering attacks. By engaging directly with the seniors, Peter was able to provide practical advice and answer specific questions, ensuring they felt confident and prepared to protect themselves.
Compass Shows Support in Rhode Island State Police 5K as Runners and Sponsors

Members of the Compass IT Compliance team participated as both runners and sponsors in the Rhode Island State Police 5K Foot Pursuit. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Hero Package Foundation and the HSAN IV Foundation. The Hero Package Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Warwick, provides "hero packages" to children with cancer and other severe illnesses, delivering these gifts directly to homes or hospital rooms. The Rhode Island-based HSAN IV Foundation, also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting gene therapy research for a rare genetic condition that results in the inability to feel pain.

Compass IT Compliance is proud to support the Plymouth Little League as a sponsor. Through our contribution, we aim to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit among young athletes. Our SVP of Virtual CISO, CJ Hurd, also donates his time to serve as a coach within the league. Plymouth Little League is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing kids in Plymouth with an opportunity to learn and play the game of baseball, all made successful by the league sponsors and volunteers. The league is a chartered member and follows the rules and regulations of Little League Baseball.

Compass matched the collected donations, leading to a generous contribution of $1,600. The Holy Family Home offers a secure, compassionate, and supportive environment for women and their children who are in distress and lack the means or support to better their circumstances.

Nearly 1,000 registrants ran, walked, and rolled to show their support for the DAV Massachusetts chapter. The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) charity helps more than one million veterans each year in positive, life-changing ways, at no cost to them. From the Berkshires to Provincetown, the DAV Department of Massachusetts supports our local veterans everyday with their programs and services.

The proceeds raised from the event will help support the Morgan Family and their fight against Huntington’s disease (HD). Huntington's disease is a fatal condition typically characterized by involuntary movements and dementia. In the United States, Huntington's disease occurs in about one of every 10,000 to 20,000 people. It affects males and females equally and crosses all ethnic and racial boundaries.

Several Compass IT Compliance staff took part in the Rhode Island State Police 5K Foot Pursuit as runners, and Compass IT Compliance also participated as a sponsor of the race. This year, a portion of the event proceeds will be benefiting the HSAN IV foundation. The HSAN IV foundation was founded to spread awareness and fund gene therapy research as they work to increase the quality of life for those affected and find a cure/treatment for Hereditary Sensory and Autonomic Neuropathy type IV (HSAN4 or HSAN IV).

Compass IT Compliance participated as a sponsor of a local fundraiser hosted by Olivia DePalma for a senior project at North Providence High School. The focus of the fundraiser was to raise money for Turtle Island via donations and the sale of sweatshirts. Turtle Island, managed by the internationally renowned scientist and zoologist Dr. Peter Praschag, breeds and focuses on conservation of endangered turtles worldwide. With over 240 taxa and more than 2500 turtles housed at four locations across Styria, Austria, Turtle Island is an Ark for endangered species.

Compass IT Compliance employees, along with their families purchased non-perishable food items to be donated to the Blackstone Valley Emergency Food Center in Pawtucket, RI. The mission of BVEFC is to provide emergency food to people of no income and low income in the Blackstone Valley area (Pawtucket, Central Falls, Cumberland and Lincoln, RI), providing a 10-days supply of food to those in need once a month.

Compass IT Compliance Donates 100 Lunches to COVID-19 Heroes at Rhode Island Hospital

To honor the brave men and women fighting on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, Compass IT Compliance donated 100 lunches to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Rhode Island Hospital (Lifespan) in Providence, RI. Lifespan, the state’s largest health system, on June 14th discharged its 1,000th coronavirus patient. The milestone was marked, as it has been for months, with the theme from the movie “Rocky” playing over the PA system at Rhode Island Hospital.

Compass IT Compliance employees ran in the Amica Downtown Jingle 5K in downtown Providence, RI. Hundreds of runners took part in the annual event to help raise money for the Amos House. The mission of the Amos House is to help people help themselves out of homelessness and poverty through vital services and results-oriented programs. Amos House is a leading social service agency in Rhode Island, managing the largest soup kitchen in the state, providing social services to over 15,000 people a year and housing nearly 165 men, women and children a night. More than 500 adults have graduated from its training programs.

Compass IT Compliance employees, along with their families purchased Thanksgiving food items to be donated to the Saint Edward Food and Wellness Center in Providence, RI. The Food Center is the second largest agency serviced by the Community Food Bank and distributes over 400,000 pounds of food annually. Currently the Food Center is servicing over 2000 families as of this date as recorded on our database with an average of about 300 to 350 families receiving assistance weekly.

Using proceeds from the 3rd Annual Compass Cybersecurity Symposium, Compass IT Compliance was able to donate $1,000 to the Innocent Lives Foundation, founded by keynote speaker Chris Hadnagy. The Innocent Lives Foundation unmasks anonymous child predators and reveals their true identities using legal hacking techniques and data from open-source intelligence.
